Firearm Safety Lesson - 6th Grade
In accordance with H.B. 104 we will be having an important lesson about safety, focusing on what to do if your child ever sees a gun. We will not discuss how guns work, but rather, how to stay safe. We will learn and practice these four rules following the L.E.T.’S. Stay Safe model put out by the Utah Attorney General’s Office. We encourage you to please talk with your child about these rules and reinforce the message at home. Remind them that guns are never toys, and it’s always okay to ask an adult for help if they are unsure or feel unsafe. Our counselor, Mr. B, will present this lesson in our 6th grade classrooms next week, March 30th - April 3rd. Please fill out this form ONLY if you do NOT want your child to participate in the firearm safety lesson. Your student’s teacher will have an alternate activity for your child in another classroom if you choose to opt out. If you would like your child to participate in this lesson, you do not need to do anything at this time - DO NOT FILL OUT THIS FORM.

I wanted to inform you that we had paramedics on campus this morning in response to a medical emergency involving a student. I am happy to share that the student is doing well.

Alpine School District is continuing its boundary study process and invites families to attend an informational open house this Wednesday, February 11, from 6:00–7:00 PM in the Springside Elementary gym. This open house will provide an opportunity to learn more about the proposed boundary adjustments and to ask questions of district leaders.
Your feedback is very important and can be shared through the district’s online survey at:
https://alpineschools.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8uJUy2XSlGJbAiO
We encourage all families to stay informed and participate in the process. Thank you for your continued support of Springside Elementary.

Alpine School District is currently conducting a boundary study for our area, which may significantly impact student enrollment at Springside Elementary in the coming years. On January 13, 2026, the Alpine School District Board of Education approved a formal study of school boundaries that may impact the following schools beginning in the 2026–2027 school year: Dry Creek Elementary, Harbor Point Elementary, Sage Hills Elementary, Saratoga Shores Elementary, and our beloved Springside Elementary. This study was initiated in response to continued growth in Saratoga Springs and the district’s upcoming reconfiguration.
Your voice is important in this process and our district leaders would like to hear from you. Please join us for a Boundary Study Open House at Springside Elementary this Wednesday, February 11th, from 6:00–7:00 PM in the gym. During this meeting, district representatives will present proposed boundary options and be available to answer questions.
Proposed boundary maps are expected to be available online soon, along with an email update from our district leaders. You are also invited to share input at the following district meetings held at the Alpine School District Office:
• February 10, 2026 – Board Meeting, 6:00 PM
• February 24, 2026 – Public Hearing, 6:05 PM
• March 10, 2026 – Board Meeting (anticipated final decision), 6:00 PM
To review maps, learn more, and provide feedback online, please visit:

We encourage all families to stay informed and participate as we plan for the future of Springside.
Warm regards,
John LaBare
Principal, Springside Elementary

Yesterday many of our students were able to experience some hockey magic with a group from the Utah Mammoth. They brought hockey sticks, goals, and other supplies and taught the students the basics of hockey. They donated these supplies to our school for our PE teacher to use with her classes.
Students will receive a bookmark today with a QR code. Families can scan the code and vote for Springside to get another visit from Utah Mammoth. (They've asked that we don't share the barcode online, so look for the bookmark to come home today). The students had a GREAT time! Thanks Mammoths!

If you are willing to decorate a hallway the theme is listed on the sign-up but volunteers would need to come up with the decorations and hang them on Friday (other PTA members will be around to assist with hanging). The school has butcher paper available for the decorations.
