“Education is not the filling of a pail,
but the lighting of a fire.”
We are pleased to welcome you to our Fifth Grade Website. We hope this will be your portal to many of the activities and much of the information about what we do in our classrooms this year. As the name implies, ‘All Things Fifth Grade,’ we hope to have our schedules, curricula, core standards, helps, and other materials (worksheets, etc.) available for you to access throughout the year. Having these things available will facilitate your access in case:
- Papers are lost (you will be able to click on a pdf of the document and download it)
- You need additional helps with a Math concept (videos for each lesson will be available)
- You have an interest when a certain concept will be taught and what standards will be covered for that concept (schedules will be posted)
- There is a need to know where your child is at any given time during the day (the daily schedule will be posted)
- Our contact information is needed (it’s included in the “Meet the Team” section)
These are just a few items we will have available on the website. More will be added as time goes on and as the need arises. If you you have any suggestions how we might improve the site, don’t hesitate to let your child’s teacher know. We are always looking for good ideas.

education is life itself.”
Meet the Team
I am excited to be teaching fifth grade at Springside Elementary. We are going to have an exciting year together. I’ve taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th grades. I love teaching and I enjoy hiking, biking, and camping. This is going to be a great year.
I am thrilled to be teaching at Springside Elementary. I began my teaching career in 1975 in California. I started teaching in Alpine District in 1984 (I retired in 2009, but couldn’t pass up the opportunity to come back and teach at Springside). I look forward to working with your children this year.
I grew up on a farm west of Lehi. After high school, I graduated from Utah State University, majoring in Environmental Studies. Several years ago, I went back to school to get a second degree, this time, in Elementary Education, and have been teaching ever since. During my free time I enjoy camping and riding motorcycles with husband and two boys. I also enjoy attending live theater and traveling. Education is my passion - being a teacher is the best job ever - I love it! I look forward to being part of the Springside community.
My name is Shari Eliason! I’m from Colorado Springs, Colorado. I’ve lived in Utah for 3 years and have been married for 2 years. I love having fun and going on adventures! I’m excited for this new adventure, teaching at Springside Elementary!
